You should check in with your department as soon as possible to let them know you have arrived.
Orientation
J-1 Scholar Orientation takes place most Thursdays from 10am to 12pm, virtually. You may schedule a GEO Orientation appointment via Calendly here: J-1 Scholar Orientation at GEO. It is required that you attend orientation within 10 days of the DS-2019 start date. Failure to attend will jeopardize your immigration status. At orientation, you will meet with an international advisor and receive a packet of handouts with useful information regarding your stay in the U.S., including a post-arrival checklist that outlines what you should most immediately address upon arrival.
Documents to Present: On that day, please email scans of your and your dependents' (if any):
- DS-2019 signed
- Passport and Visa
- Most recent I-94 (Can be found on the I-94 official website)
- Proof of health insurance showing the coverage.
