Connect. Learn. Explore.
UNM ISSS international programs and events are for everyone. People from other countries. UNM students, faculty, staff and Albuquerque residents. GEO collaborates with organizations on campus and in Albuquerque to share our global knowledge. We recognize that the human element is one of the most important of any international experience. However, adjusting to the new cultural climate can be very difficult for international students and scholars. GEO has designed various programs to help international students and scholars easier transition into their new life. These programs are designed to keep the international population of UNM involved as an active participant in all aspects of life. Whether you want to see a Chinese lion dance, volunteer while learning about the world, or taste Saudi Arabian cuisine, you can do it here—and make friends along the way. Join us in our social events and our cultural trips for students around New Mexico and the southwest!

GEO sponsors many activities in order to provide students with opportunities to meet other international and domestic students in a fun atmosphere. These events provide new cultural experiences as well as an enjoyable release from the stress of classes and living in a different country.
Each semester GEO holds events to celebrate diversity and rich cultures of UNM’s International students. These fun cultural events are organized with the goal of integrating international and domestic students in a truly global environment. These events are a great opportunity for students to share their culture and tradition with other students.
As an advocate for international programs on campus, GEO provides many services to international students and scholars including a great variety of workshops throughout the semester. These workshops are ranging from cultural discussions and practical information sessions to work and immigration related workshops. During the spring semester, GEO offers TAX workshops and manages the VITA site to help students fill out their tax forms.
